Loved the little cottage tucked away, it was comfortable, quiet and peaceful yet central to everything we needed, such as shops, Tesco's and co-op, cafes and many fine pubs. The cake tea, milk and Heritage bag that was left at the cottage, was very appreciated and useful. The ladies in the office were very helpful and friendly. Of course we had the best weather ever!!!. Thanks ladies, we will return to you! Thimble Cottage was tucked away, and very peaceful, even though there were other cottages near by. The rooms were smallish but comfortable and there was everything there you needed. The courtyard was lovely and useful, it had the sun in it most of the day. There was just a short walk and you were in the High Street, with everything you required. We shall come again and definitely with Heritage, they give great service and are helpful and friendly.

We had a lovely Christmas week at this cosy little cottage. Just the two of us and our beloved Cocoa! We loved Southwold - friendly locals, beautiful beach and great beer. We got engaged here during our stay, so now it has a special place in our hearts.

Reassuring to find the cottage lights on as we found our way on a dark December evening to the front door. Useful location. An intimate and acceptable living space. First time in Southwold - enjoyed the pre-Xmas atmosphere, excellent walks and some great wildlife on the reserves.

Lovely traditional cottage in the centre of Southwold. Tastefully furnished and compact in size. Would recommend to any couples or small families who want to take advantage of being in the centre of Southwold. It would be better if there was somewhere to hang wet coats and shoes.

Thimble cottage is absolutely lovely. Extremely clean and well equipped, bright and airy bedrooms. Situated set back from other properties which was lovely. Lovely gesture leaving a local homemade cake to welcome us. Shower room small but adequate. The only thing that may be a problem for some people were the very steep stairs up to the bedrooms.

Right in the heart of the town. Just what we were looking for to meet up with family and friends nearby for New Year. Small but perfectly formed. Just what you need for a short break to celebrate the New Year. Access to all the important things... The town, The beach... The Lord Nelson! The fire works on the beach are a real treat and over the last 10 year or so of visiting have been getting better and better. The bottle of champagne left for us was a real surprise and was very much appreciated and enjoyed. It seemed as if a lot of care had been taken and we felt right at home as soon as we opened the door. We would strongly recommend to all (but may be not at New Year as we would like to be back again...) The court yard would be a winner but as we were there for New Year was only used to dry the dog. It would be great if there was a real fire rather than flame effect but fully understand why this may not be possible. Having phoned the team before booking we can only say what excellent service we were given. A big thank you for all your help and for allowing us to spend such a great time over the New Year period.

We love staying in Southwold, it is one of our favourite places. Thimble Cottage was lovely and cosy and warm. We were just a couple but had ample space to spread ourselves around the cottage. Autumn holidays can be tricky but we were very lucky with the weather and so got ourselves out exploring. We loved Thimble Cottage, it is cosy and warm and very conveniently placed in the centre of Southwold giving easy access to the beach and to the shops. Very nicely decorated, clean and had everything to hand. It was lovely to be able to use the central heating as the days are shortening and the air becoming chilly it was nice to be warm. All in all a lovely holiday thank you. We will be back to Southwold!!! We have been extremely satisfied with Heritage Hideaways and it is always reassuring to know you are around the corner should we need you. Much better for us than going "private". The little gifts on arrival make a huge difference - cake is always welcome! We were very pleased with the service you provide.

    Southwold Holiday Guide

Southwold in Suffolk is a delightful seaside town: its colourful beach huts, stylish shops and restaurants, lovely sandy beach, award-winning Pier and atmospheric harbour, not to mention Adnams Brewery, all add to its timeless appeal.

Southwold really does have everything you need for a traditional British holiday, and a stay in one of our holiday cottages in Southwold, provides the perfect base to enjoy its many attractions. Bring your bucket and spade for some genuine seaside fun, take a gentle stroll along the promenade, marvelling at the spectacular views of the town, beach huts and Lighthouse, or spend an afternoon in the Electric Picture Palace, Southwold’s delightful 68-seater cinema.

Adnams’ Sole Bay Brewery is at the heart of the town and you may smell the hops as you walk by. You can also book an Adnams Brewery Tour, sampling some of the ales and beers, or purchase your tipple of choice from Adnams Cellar and Kitchen Store on the high street.

The locally caught fish is outstanding and a walk along the Harbour with its characterful, ramshackle fishing huts is a ‘must’. Try The Sole Bay Fish Co and the newly opened Southwold Smokehouse or fish and chips from Mrs T's and sit on the harbour wall to eat them. You can buy your fresh fish here at the harbour – ask and they’ll keep it on ice for you if you want to continue your walk across the Bailey Bridge and along the River Blyth tow path the to pretty village of Walberswick. There are some lovely walks around this area, click here to find out more.

For the brave-hearted there is the Coastal Voyager for a speedy trip out to sea crash
