Skimming stones is a lovely cottage to stay in, it had everything we needed. Everyone had a place to disappear to. We loved the fact that the kitchen, dining room and living room are open planned. Southwold has happy memories for me and my family. It never disappoints us. We're always sad to go home.

Very enjoyable holiday! Very quiet and easy to park and the house was very comfortable and spacious. The owners had left scones, jam and clotted cream which was very welcoming. We have been to Southwold many times as it is a great holiday location. We would highly recommend Skimming Stones as it is a wonderful holiday property with its large kitchen/ dining/ living room which is great for a family gathering. We would highly recommend this property!

A fantastic break with family it was so good to be able to all be together especially for the new year. The house was fantastic, 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, there was so much space you never felt you were in each other’s way. The log burner was a bonus - so cheerful on a wet and windy day. All in all we as a family really enjoyed our stay and would definitely like to return again.

We have previous experience of staying in Southwold so knew just what to expect but this was the first time we had stayed as a family (8 people/3 generations) and rented a house rather than hotel accommodation. The holiday experience was very good. Weather lovely. Plenty to do. Everyone was very well satisfied with the week. A lovely, well equipped comfortable house within easy walking distance of all Southwold has to offer. Lovely garden for al fresco meals. The open plan spacious living area gave plenty of room for our party of eight. We were slightly concerned that no parking was attached to the house but as the road was quiet and a bit hidden away this proved to be no problem. En-suite to every bedroom. Comfortable beds. Secluded garden. Quiet location. Very well equipped. Bi-fold doors to garden a lovely feature especially as the weather was so good during our stay but we found them rather heavy to operate. Couple of places on the decking which need attention. However these are very small points which in no way detracted from our enjoyment of the property. This was my first experience of renting a holiday property and I found the whole experience very straightforward.

A super break for the whole of our UK based family, we will come again. The owner greeted us with flowers and wine! Large open space for family living and enjoyment of leisure time irrespective of the weather. All renovated to a pretty high standard, the grandchildren particularly like the wet room set up in the bathrooms! And although not in the centre of the town, the short walk to the centre, pier and beach was both interesting and beneficial to all concerned.

Everything was perfect from collecting the keys when we received a warm welcome (unlike some other agencies!). The property was beautiful and so well equipped which made all the difference. We stayed at Skimming Stones, the house is beautiful and clearly much thought has been given to every detail of how it is laid out and equipped. It was faultless and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to others and staying here again. 5 stars and then some!

Skimming Stones is a fabulous property and the hosts were superb. I felt lucky to have met them in person, and they visited a second time to make sure that the bin had been emptied during the week. Our entire week is just full of happy, delightful and fabulous memories of my mum's 70th birthday. I cant say enough kind things about our hosts, Heritage Hideaways as the agent or this amazing property. My only two reservations were one, no mattress was provided for the travel cot (which we were not told in advance and made it very difficult with a toddler in the house) and the 'larder' cupboard has hot pipes running floor to ceiling in the corner (which we didn't realise until it had already melted our chocolate biscuits). Aside from that, I can only say.. that if you are going to Southwold and want to stay in a property of this size - you will not go wrong by booking Skimming Stones. I only hope that we can visit again one day. Thank you for a superb holiday experience. With very warmest regards,

Overall an excellent experience. Heritage Hideaways excellent. Very helpful during our visit in 2015 to find a suitable property for my 70th this year. Skimming Stones is excellent - better than we anticipated. The quality of the accomodation and the equipment provided are outstanding. Southwold is a delight, something for all our family and friends. We can't wait to return. Skimming Stones is an outstanding property, ideally situated near the beach but in a quiet locale. The accomodation and equipment provided are really excellent. The best equipped property we have seen or stayed in.

We have just returned from a week at Skimming Stones and we did not want to leave! The house was perfect!! We had an age range of 17 to 85 (almost 86!) and everyone's needs were met! It was wonderful to have the disabled access wetroom and a ground floor bedroom, these facilities are hard to come by in rental homes, and this meant that my grandparents were still able to come on holiday with us. The house is beautifully decorated and well equipped. We thoroughly enjoyed using the garden and were very lucky with the weather! Cooking in the pizza oven was a success too and we particularly liked the open plan aspect downstairs and the wonderful bifolding doors - especially as the temperature was in the high twenties for most of the week. The house is in a great location, a five-ten minute walk to the pier and a ten-fifteen minute walk to the town. Perfect for families, we would recommend it to anyone and everyone! We hope to stay again.

We thought it was fantastic - the cottage was perfect and it was easy to get to lots to lovely walks and pubs nearby. property_summary: Skimming Stones is a perfect cottage for friends and families alike. It has a lovely open plan kitchen/living space which meant that we could all be together when we were chilling/cooking! The garden is a whole adventure in itself and we only wished it had been summer so that we could have stoked up the pizza oven for our own homemade pizzas! Lovely, perfect cottage in the beautiful Southwold!

Can't praise this property enough! We had a large family birthday celebration here over a long weekend. An amazing house! You couldn't ask for more in this property - it was perfect for our family Christmas. The open layout downstairs is brilliant for family holidays as it allows everyone to be together, but is designed superbly so you are never on top of each other & can all easily do doing different things at once. The extra touches of biscuits & cakes, etc, were a really lovely touch, and the overall quality of the house & furnishings was very high. No more than a 10 minute walk to the Pier made it very convenient. A must for any Southwold stay is lunch at Sole Bay Fish Company - best fish & chips we have ever had! We will definitely be back.

Superb property, well furnished, beautifully decorated and equipped with everything one could possible need - and more besides! Lovely walks across the bird sanctuary/marshlands directly opposite the house, a short 5 minute stroll to the beach and just 10 minutes stroll from the town - we hardly used the car at all. Home made cup-cakes and newly laid eggs awaited us on arrival, plus biscuits, tea, fresh ground coffee all provided - such a nice surprise. The garden is a work of art and a delight to look out on. Couldn't ask for more.

Super house in a lovely location, very tastefully appointed with every comfort one could require. By a long way the best equipped house we've ever rented. In a quiet road, but with easy access, on foot or by cycle, to the town and the beach. We particularly liked the fact that the downstairs bedroom doubled as a second sitting room, when a bit of peace and quiet was required. The dog loved it too.

We had a fantastic stay in this beautiful and thoughtfully renovated house. The kitchen/dining/sitting area which opened out on to the lovely landscaped garden was a brilliant area to cook, eat chat and relax together without being cut off into separate rooms. The owners had thought of everything in the very well equipped kitchen. Delicious lemon scones and clotted cream on our arrival much appreciate too! It's an easy short walk into the centre of Southwold. Sandra, Jane, Hazel and Dawn

Skimming Stones is a beautiful property and far exceeded our expectations. The interior and garden are stunning with fantastic attention to detail. Southwold Holiday Guide

Southwold in Suffolk is a delightful seaside town: its colourful beach huts, stylish shops and restaurants, lovely sandy beach, award-winning Pier and atmospheric harbour, not to mention Adnams Brewery, all add to its timeless appeal.

Southwold really does have everything you need for a traditional British holiday, and a stay in one of our holiday cottages in Southwold, provides the perfect base to enjoy its many attractions. Bring your bucket and spade for some genuine seaside fun, take a gentle stroll along the promenade, marvelling at the spectacular views of the town, beach huts and Lighthouse, or spend an afternoon in the Electric Picture Palace, Southwold’s delightful 68-seater cinema.

Adnams’ Sole Bay Brewery is at the heart of the town and you may smell the hops as you walk by. You can also book an Adnams Brewery Tour, sampling some of the ales and beers, or purchase your tipple of choice from Adnams Cellar and Kitchen Store on the high street.

The locally caught fish is outstanding and a walk along the Harbour with its characterful, ramshackle fishing huts is a ‘must’. Try The Sole Bay Fish Co and the newly opened Southwold Smokehouse or fish and chips from Mrs T's and sit on the harbour wall to eat them. You can buy your fresh fish here at the harbour – ask and they’ll keep it on ice for you if you want to continue your walk across the Bailey Bridge and along the River Blyth tow path the to pretty village of Walberswick. There are some lovely walks around this area, click here to find out more.

For the brave-hearted there is the Coastal Voyager for a speedy trip out to sea crash

Everything you could possibly wish for was provided (including cup-cakes, cava and fresh flowers on arrival). Such a beautiful house and brilliant location.
