Southwold Holiday Guide
Southwold in Suffolk is a delightful seaside town: its colourful beach huts, stylish shops and restaurants, lovely sandy beach, award-winning Pier and atmospheric harbour, not to mention Adnams Brewery, all add to its timeless appeal.
Southwold really does have everything you need for a traditional British holiday, and a stay in one of our holiday cottages in Southwold, provides the perfect base to enjoy its many attractions. Bring your bucket and spade for some genuine seaside fun, take a gentle stroll along the promenade, marvelling at the spectacular views of the town, beach huts and Lighthouse, or spend an afternoon in the Electric Picture Palace, Southwold’s delightful 68-seater cinema.
Adnams’ Sole Bay Brewery is at the heart of the town and you may smell the hops as you walk by. You can also book an Adnams Brewery Tour, sampling some of the ales and beers, or purchase your tipple of choice from Adnams Cellar and Kitchen Store on the high street.
The locally caught fish is outstanding and a walk along the Harbour with its characterful, ramshackle fishing huts is a ‘must’. Try The Sole Bay Fish Co and the newly opened Southwold Smokehouse or fish and chips from Mrs T's and sit on the harbour wall to eat them. You can buy your fresh fish here at the harbour – ask and they’ll keep it on ice for you if you want to continue your walk across the Bailey Bridge and along the River Blyth tow path the to pretty village of Walberswick. There are some lovely walks around this area, click here to find out more.
For the brave-hearted there is the Coastal Voyager for a speedy trip out to sea crash
