Southwold Holiday Guide
Southwold in Suffolk is a delightful seaside town: its colourful beach huts, stylish shops and restaurants, lovely sandy beach, award-winning Pier and atmospheric harbour, not to mention Adnams Brewery, all add to its timeless appeal.
Southwold really does have everything you need for a traditional British holiday, and a stay in one of our holiday cottages in Southwold, provides the perfect base to enjoy its many attractions. Bring your bucket and spade for some genuine seaside fun, take a gentle stroll along the promenade, marvelling at the spectacular views of the town, beach huts and Lighthouse, or spend an afternoon in the Electric Picture Palace, Southwold’s delightful 68-seater cinema.
Adnams’ Sole Bay Brewery is at the heart of the town and you may smell the hops as you walk by. You can also book an Adnams Brewery Tour, sampling some of the ales and beers, or purchase your tipple of choice from Adnams Cellar and Kitchen Store on the high street.
The locally caught fish is outstanding and a walk along the Harbour with its characterful, ramshackle fishing huts is a ‘must’. Try The Sole Bay Fish Co and the newly opened Southwold Smokehouse or fish and chips from Mrs T's and sit on the harbour wall to eat them. You can buy your fresh fish here at the harbour – ask and they’ll keep it on ice for you if you want to continue your walk across the Bailey Bridge and along the River Blyth tow path the to pretty village of Walberswick. Rokeby Lodge is a wonderful bright and spacious family house within sight of Southwold's sandy beach and iconic pier and close to the Sole Bay Inn as well as the centre of Southwold with all its delightful attractions.
The house, which sleeps 9, has been renovated to adapt to family life and holidays with an open plan dining and living area and cosy open fire, a well designed galley style kitchen, plus utility area and charming courtyard.
Entrance: spacious hallway with separate access to courtyard, hanging space for outside boots and clothes. Stairs to half landing and first floor. Please note, these are fairly steep and uncarpeted.
Living area: a bright and sunny room with dining table and chairs for 8, side board and bookcase, window overlooking courtyard, one three seater and 1 two seater sofas and armchairs, TV with freeview, occasional tables and lamps, CD player/radio, open fire and views over East Green.
Kitchen: galley style fitted kitchen with electric cooker and hob, fridge with freezer compartment, 4 slice toaster, electric kettle, Krups coffee machine, dishwasher and door to utility area and glazed door to courtyard.
Utility Room: with microwave, washing machine and separate dryer and small fridge with freezer.
Courtyard: with table and chairs for al fresco dining.
Master Bedroom: with king sized bedroom, bedside tables with lamps, wardrobe, chest of drawers and TV, lovely bay window with views over East Green.
Bedroom 2: large bedroom with 4' 6" double bed and single bed, built in wardrobes, bedside tables and lamps, hand basin and decorative fireplace.
Half landing with separate WC with handbasin.
Family bathroom: with shower over the bath, WC, hand basin and heated towel rail.
Bedroom 3: on the second floor, a cosy double bedroom with 5' bed and ensuite shower room, WC and hand basin, bedside tables and lamps, built in wardrobe.
Bedroom 4: on the second floor, bunk bedded room with storage, views of the Lighthouse and some sea views.
Outside: private courtyard garden.Outside loo in brick outbuilding.
Parking is available on the street close to the house.
Bed linen and towels are provided and there is Wifi the cottage.
A small basket of logs and kindling is provided on arrival in the winter months (November-March)
One small well behaved dog is welcome but must be kept on the ground floor.
The house is available for short breaks and weekly holidays throughout the year....
