  • Forest Live 2017, Thetford Forest, Suffolk

    Forest Live takes place in June and July every summer and attracts an eclectic mix of acts performing in a spectacular forest location. Forest Live is an independent programme organised by the Forestry Commission to bring forests to new audiences. Income from ticket sales is spent on protecting, improving England’s forests and woodlands and increasing their value to people and widelife.

    The line-up for this year’s series of events includes:

    Elbow, Olly Murs, Rick Astley and Clean Bandit.

  • Birdwatching for Beginners

    25 June, 2017

    Many people have begun birdwatching at Minsmere over the last 70 years. Out RSPB guides will take you through all the steps for bird identification as well as showing you how to use binoculars and which field guides are best for you. They'll then help you to spot some of the reserve's seasonal highlights. no previous experience needed. 

    Start: 10.30am (2.5 hours) 

    Price: Adults £8, children £4 plus normal reserve entry fees for non-members.

    Michael Minas is a painter who is absorbed by the perceptible objective world, but who uses his acute skill as an observer to go well beyond portrayal, to experiment, extend reflect and invent. He is captivated by the excitement and sheer pleasure of colour. That famous phrase in the art of taking a line for a walk is mutated in Michael Minas’ art to taking colour for a walk, making multi-layered and multi-faceted images which reflect and refract light.

  • Works in Wartime 1940's Fayre

    27 May, 2017

    Keep calm and carry on down to The Long Shop Museum for a trip back to the 1940's! See wartime re-enactors, displays on life at home and abroad during World War Two, see unique, retro military vehicles, check out great vintage stalls and tuck into wartime refreshments- no rations here! Visitors are welcome to don their 40's finery and allied uniforms and dance the day away to some tunes of the times from the band 'Chocks Away!'. 

    If retro is your cup of tea, the North Norfolk Railway in Holt, hold a 1940's weekend in mid-September each year which should not be missed. Sheringham and Cromer are closeby.

    10am - 4pm and part of the Leiston Big Weekend. Take a look at our range of cottages in Aldeburgh, which is only four miles from Leiston.

  • Beccles Food and Drink Festival 2017

    27 May, 2017

    A fun-filled family event featuring a wide variety of local food and drinks stalls and cookery theatre. There will also be buskers and a children’s activity hub with face-painting, Punch and Judy and storytelling.

    The festival takes place in Beccles Town Centre on Saturday 27 May, 2017.
