Description
Area Type: Countryside
County: Suffolk
Country: England
Postcode: IP19 0BB
Set in 16 acres of woodland and paddocks belonging to Mount Pleasant Farm, this breathtaking thatched barn has been converted to a very high standard to provide comfortable accommodation for a family or two couples.
The main barn dating back to 1620,has been restored to its original state leaving fabulous beams exposed from floor to ceiling. The original stable entrance doors have been glazed and now let huge amounts of light into the barn. This living area has three large sofas, coffee table, book cases, a superb three quarter sized snooker table, TV with Freeview/DVD/video, CD/radio and electric keyboard/klavinova.
At each end of this barn and linked by adjoining doors are smaller, red brick barns, each with opening stable doors known as the 'Old Stable End' and the 'Old Dairy End' and these provide additional living areas. The Old Stable End has a spacious double bedroom and ensuite shower room and views over the garden and to the owners beautiful Tudor house. Old Dairy End is a two storey barn at the opposite end and has a glazed hallway, ground floor kitchen and dining area, shower room with WC and handbasin and then upstairs a spacious double bedroom with sofa bed, good storage and views over the pond with a resident pair of black swans and garden.
The owners' house is just across the lawn from the barn and guests are invited to share the grounds with them. Marked footpaths from the barn take walkers through the beautiful Suffolk countryside to the Munnings Trail and many cycle paths.
The Suffolk Heritage Coast is approx. 10 miles away where the lovely seaside town of Southwold provides a variety of interests for all ages from the Pier, to shopping, good restaurants and wonderful Adnams beer and wines.
Neighbouring market towns and villages include Halesworth, Holton, Wisset, Beccles and Bungay. The towns have a good selection of local shops and services. Holton and Beccles have a farmers market and Halesworth and Beccles both have railway stations.
Local pubs providing good food include the Buck at Rumburgh, The Poacher at Cratfield and the well-known Fox and Goose at Fressingfield.
