Description

Self Catering National Quality Assurance Standard RatingThis pretty cottage is tucked away just off the village green in Westleton and offers a traditional atmosphere of beams, low ceilings and wooden floors, together with an open fire and more modern conveniences! The garden is enclosed with well stocked shrub and herbaceous borders around two lawned areas and a paved terrace and pathway to the street.

Although there are only three bedrooms, additional children can be accommodated on a z-bed, a small child's bed (up to 8 years) and a double sofa bed in the second sitting room. This room is a modern addition to the house with sliding safety glass doors opening on to the terrace.

The village of Westleton is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, one and a half miles from the seaside at Dunwich, 10 minutes drive from Walberswick, 15 mins from Southwold and 30 minutes from Aldeburgh and Thorpeness. The RSPB centre at Minsmere is 3 miles away, which would be a good walk or easy cycle ride to this mecca for birdwatchers; it really is a special place.

Visitors to Lilac Cottage could park their car for a week to enjoy this quiet corner of Suffolk as the village is well served with a good grocery shop and Post Office, two excellent pubs, a coffee shop and a wonderful book shop to while away the hours.

"Thanks for ten lovely restful days. We have had a great break." May 2009.

"Lilac Cottage is perfect - full of the character of a 16th century house and very well equipped. Great for families. Beautiful walks past the village pond onto Westleton Heath and for rainy days a great selection of books, games and DVDs. One of the nicest houses we've ever stayed in and we'll certainly be back" Nov 2010

"What a quite wonderful cottage. Having holidayed in Westleton and Dunwich over the last fifteen years, how I wish we had discovered Lilac Cottage before. Apart from parking (although not a big issue) the property had a little musty smell it will certainly not put us off booking again and I look forward to reviewing your brochure in 2011. Once again thank you for a lovely holiday. Mr Bright October 2010.

"I think you undersell the property on the website, photo's make it smaller than it is and has more characterful and interesting then I believed. We liked the cottage a great deal, more than we had expected to from the description". October 2010
