Description

Self Catering National Quality Assurance Standard Rating

Situated on the edge of the village of Walberswick and only a short walk from the village shop, church and many footpaths, and a slightly longer walk to the seaside, this cottage is hidden away behind evergreen hedges and sits centrally in a spacious garden which offers great privacy. The cottage benefits from a recent renovation with the installation of french doors from the sitting room on to the newly paved terrace at the back of the cottage and redecoration throughout. The cottage also offers a large wooden Finnish Summerhouse, for children to play in during the day and where adults may enjoy the setting sun in the evening. The Summerhouse has a deck and lighting

With three good sized bedrooms and an additional slatted bed with good mattress, the cottage sleeps up to 7 people. Parking is via a gated drive at the back of the cottage with space for 3 cars. Another bonus is the spacious family bathroom on the first floor plus a ground floor shower room next to the back door, which is great for showering off after a day on the beach. There is a football pitch on the Common which is only two minutes walk from the Hoist Cottage

The beach at Walberswick is a mixture of sand and pebbles with sand dunes; when the tide goes out sand banks and pools appear which are ideal for small children, under supervision of course.

Surfers and kite surfers use the beach on a regular basis when the wind and tides are right but that is usually when no one else is on the beach, except the regular dogs and their owners.

This is a fabulous, warm and well appointed cottage at any time of the year being centrally heated and having an open gas fire. The village has two excellent pubs which serve good food in the pub or out in the gardens when the weather is good or around open fires in the winter.

Walberswick has a wealth of footpaths for walking and cycling which link the village to the coastal villages of Southwold, Dunwich and Aldeburgh. Inland, visitors will find beautiful country houses, stunning gardens, pretty villages and impressive castles. A wide range of events take place throughout the year ranging from food festivals, beer festivals, music concerts ranging from classical at Snape Maltings, all ranges of rock music at the Latitude Festival, V festival and at some wonderful stately homes in the area, together with comedy, plays and dance at the Jill Freud Summer Theatres, The Cut in Halesworth and the Fisher Theatre in Bungay to name but a few!

And did you know that East Anglia, the bump on the East of England of which Norfolk and Suffolk are part, is one of the driest areas in the country with only 30" of rain in an average year and plenty of sunshine, so visitors may find it a welcome change from the West of England and Scotland!
