Description
Area Type: Coastal
County: Suffolk
Country: England
Postcode: NR34 7HD
This delightful Grade II Listed red brick cottage is situated in the village of Wrentham within 10 minutes drive of the attractive Edwardian seaside town of Southwold. Dressmaker's is very pretty and full of character and has been renovated with great care and attention retaining a wealth of original features in fireplaces, exposed beams and oak flooring and has featured in BBC Homes & Antiques magazine.
The cottage is semi detached and originally built for the dressmaker on the local Benacre Estate. The cottage next door was the thatcher's cottage and retains its original drying room for the thatch. Outside, the driveway from the road comes down a slight incline beside the house to the gardens. This incline and a large hedge at the front of the garden provide shelter from the main road which runs through the village. (This is the A12 but the speed limit is 30mph) The garden is well planted and mature with a brick and cobbles patio area facing south west, with attractive garden furniture and is ideal for outside entertaining. In addition there is a spacious wooden garden house, the 'cabin', which has been converted into a children's play area with a large variety of toys including a Brio train set. A separate sitting area in the cabin has TV/DVD, video and music centre.
