Historic houses and buildings are also within easy reach including Framlingham Castle, Bigods Castle, Somerleyton Hall, Dunwich Priory and Orford Castle. Beccles is the nearest place to rent a boat to explore the Norfolk Broads. Canoes and bicycles can be hired locally and there are cycle paths along the river meadows.

The fine city of Norwich is only 25 minutes' drive away and has a wonderful cathedral and castle, together with a variety of entertainment including cinemas, roller skating, ice skating and shopping.

Whilst exploring this thriving old town, there is a wide range of shops to tempt you including antiques, crafts and everyday items. For your sustenance there are cafés, restaurants, tea-rooms and pubs. There is also a golf course, sports hall, bowling green and indoor swimming pool. The Fisher Theatre has an excellent programme of stage and cinema events, together with a bar and bistro.
